Hot on the heels of the Samsung H1, Vodafone has brought its 360 experience to a second handset – the M1.
The same as its predecessor, the M1 is run on LiMo, a Linux-based mobile OS, but will be marketed as a lower end handset for customers on a budget.
Specwise, the M1 packs at a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 3-megapixel camera with 8x zoom, video recording at 30fps, 3G, GPS and Bluetooth, as well as 1GB on-board storage expandable to 32GB by microSD.
The Vodafone 360 UI, which you can read all about in our hands on with the H1, makes your phone the hub of all your social networking a la Motoblur, so you can view all of your contacts – and ways to contact them – in one place.
This includes pulling in details from Facebook, MSN and Google Talk, with Twitter promised to be coming "very, very soon".
The M1 is expected to be distributed worldwide over 2009 and 2010, but no exact dates as to when we can expect it here.
We're chasing Samsung and Vodafone now for the details and we'll update you as soon as we have them. In the meantime be sure to check out our hands on impressions with the 360 service and the H1 handset, and let us know what you think below.
The Samsung Moment is another Android phone that has been designed by Samsung but this time for Sprint. The Samsung Moment is a black slider with a QWERTY keypad that slides out from the side. The primary screen is a full touch 3.2 inch AMOLED. However, do not worry as you are provided with some basic physical controls as well for those of you wary of a full touch phone. The design although pretty stylish and corporate feels a little bulky. Also, there is a hint of a plastic like feel to it which is not a great thing for such a hi-tech phone like the Samsung Moment. All the information that we have about this Android phone was spilled out accidentally by Samsung in a press conference about a completely different product. We do know that the release date for the Samsung Moment has been finalized and is the 1st of November.
Apart from the AMOLED screen which makes images look brighter and sharper there are many other features that will definitely not disappoint you. The screen itself is so designed that it makes pictures appear clear and vibrant irrespective of the angle of viewing. The phone also comes with an optical joystick and 3G connectivity which is a boon to mobile internet users. 3G is the most trusted amongst all others and provides great surfing and downloading speed. The other great thing about this Android phone is that all the Google applications are easily accessible from the Samsung Moment. These include Google Maps, YouTube, Google Search and Gmail. So this means that the Samsung Moment is the perfect phone for those who like to stay connected even while on the go. In addition to this, the phone also packs in all the games, applications and widgets that are provided by the Android systems.
Wi Fi and GPS are also included in this multi faceted phone. The GPS system is the best with access to all corners of the world. You can keep track of where you friends are and know about their exact locations at particular times of the day. You can also use the directions provided to reach their location in no time at all. The directions are accurate and simple and do not confuse you at all even if you are new to the place. There is a 3.2 mega pixel camera that takes brilliant pictures as well as a camcorder, which records without the slightest of hitches. Apart from that there is also an accelerometer and stereo Bluetooth. With the Samsung Moment you can also directly access the social networking sites like Twitter, Flickr and Facebook.
The Samsung Moment also includes a 2GB micro SD slot and the memory can be expanded to up to 32 GB. The phone also has gotten rid the old proprietary jack and adopted the new 3.5 mm jack that is more convenient to use. The battery backup is great giving a maximum of 5.5 hours of talk time. So basically the Samsung Moment is a near perfect phone with slight minor flaws that can easily be overlooked.
When it arrives, the i5700 Spica this Android smartphone will come armed with an AMOLED touchscreen. You might be wondering what makes it different from the earlier i7500 phone that Samsung brought to you sometime ago. Samsung will be lifting the wraps off its Android phone as a follower to its entry-level i7500 model.
The fact is that the new smartphone will be almost similar to the i7500. The difference, if any would be the presence of a 3.2MP flash-less camera and 100MB of internal memory. We, at this point, wonder why Samsung has made provisions for only 100MB for apps. May be, the phone maker will do something about that just in time for the release.
Other features include the usual ones – Bluetooth, HSPDA and Wi-Fi . The Galaxy Lite will come powered by a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7200A processor and will also house GPS and FM radio features. With video demos doing the rounds, we believe the official launch may not be far off.

As Samsung made an impressive showing at the GSMA World Congress it's difficult to pick one of its new phones as the most notable. Yet, the company's Omnia HD certainly would be in the running. We had the opportunity to check it out while visiting with Samsung in Barcelona, Spain. Though the Omnia HD is the next-generation model of the existing Omnia, it shows a few design differences. The curved ends give it a more eye-catching, aerodynamic look. It's also slightly bigger than its predecessor is, but we'll gladly take the extra heft with the stunning 2.7-inch 3.7-inch, 16 million-color display. In all ways, it's bright and beautiful--colors were vibrant, graphics were sharp and video lives up the HD name.
The display uses Samsung's TouchWiz interface with a customizable widget bar on the left side. The touch interface for both finger swiping and selecting icons was responsive and the Symbian interface is intuitive. The display works in landscape and includes an accelerometer for certain functions like the virtual QWERTY keyboard. Speaking of which, the keyboard is very comfortable, thanks to the display's large size. We had no problems tapping away.
The three physical controls below the display include Talk and End/power button; they're rather thin, but we didn't find them to be problematic. There's a single VGA camera lens above the display for video calling while the main lens for the 8-megapixel shooter is located on the rear. It has a flash but no sliding lens cover. Other exterior controls include a volume rocker on the left spine and a camera shutter, a screen lock control and a Micro-USB port on the right spine. The headset jack is located conveniently on the top of the device, but the memory card slot is behind the battery cover.
Features include HSDPA 3G support an 8-megapixel camera, an FM radio, assisted-GPS, Bluetooth, a music player, organizer applications, a speakerphone, and Wi-Fi.
Over the past decade, Samsung is trying to reach its goal which they have one thing in mind, and that is to grow their annual sales and intro-perspective markets which are based on the demand of the customers who are attracted to innovative types of mobile phones like Samsung. Samsung has been very successful year after year, as new models launched every two to three months, more and more people are attracted to any of those Samsung phones, either in a simple type, slide type or “open-close†type. Now, another great model has risen and evolved, and it could be a big hit to the mobile phone market soon, which Samsung now opens its doors to introduce the newest and revolutionized Samsung Jet Smartphone.
It has awesome quality features when this phone invades the Samsung world, with its high definition features like the TouchWiz 2.0 user interface with motion UI, widget screen that can be customized, and a smart unlock feature that the users will enable this phone to unlock the phone and a menu execution will appear directly, in terms of drawing alphabets on the touch screen. Touch screens are one of the best features that any compatible device that have this kind of feature, in which you can select the menus by a point of the finger, or use a specialized touch-screen pen or stick which are compatible to their respective touch screen phones like IPhone. This Samsung Jet Smartphone touch screen device has an amazing feature which has a processor of 800MHz, and its main operating system, the Dolphin web browser was included. The dimensions of Samsung Jet SmartPhone are smaller compared to popular IPhones like Apple, which are to be known as one of the best-selling phones in town, and that results to a tough competition between the two parties.
Samsung Jet Smartphone also full-packed with awesome multimedia features, which includes DNSe, 5MP Camera, SRS sound effect technology for enhanced sound system, built-in GPS, and XVid and DivX for support of downloading videos and good quality viewing purposes. The best thing for their GPS is that they have a feature called geo-tagging, which a geo-magnetic sensor was enabled to send more traffic updates on their conditions in terms of SMS. GPS can be set to either “Walk to†or “Drive to†modes. GPS system also has a compass and information regarding the location of links for navigating purposes.
Samsung Jet Smartphone also has a unique screen which you can view up to 180 degrees, and it only consumes energy to about 30% to 40% than any mobile phone which are totally equipped with TFT-LCD display. Because of the 800MHz processor, Jet is claimed to be the handset with the fastest full-touch feature ever to be professionally designed worldwide. They also claimed that the Samsung Jet Smartphone is the first ever phone that was professionally designed to success, which the feature of this amazing phone is to implement the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Email System, which offers good quality streamline user interface which results to the improvement of push-emails for any types of users either for business or for entertainment, it doesn’t matter, as long as this phone really shows up good competition to other huge-producing rival companies like Nokia and Ericsson. This amazing phone is highlighted or equipped with “one-finger zoomâ€, which the one-hand operation is enabled either to zoom in and out of the screen, and it deals with the Samsung’s Dolphin web browser that users may zoom in like a magnifier that they can see such small texts in any file type like PDF, TXT, PPT and other related files to it.
Samsung Jet Smartphone was also equipped with the 3.1 inch 16M WVGA AMOLED screen, which is four times more powerful and better than any types of mobile phones with WQVGA screen, and it claims to be “the most colorful and vivid full-touch mobile†ever in a experience that will change the way of communication, business and entertainment. Along with all of these features, it also has a “motion gate†feature, which the users will grant full access to speed dialing by flipping, tapping or tilting the phone, as well as the multimedia content. It was such a good thing that anything will happen as long as the presence of technology being designed and developed by Samsung, it will certainly make the company successful, just like the brand new Samsung Jet Smartphone. Thousands and millions of shoppers worldwide are now looking for such amazing phones which have great and unique features, which were never seen before, and if they want something new to their pocket, then Samsung Jet Smartphone is what they’re looking for right now as it launches in the big market soon.
Samsung has been built for greatness, and for some reason, they love to enhance the way designers are made to develop enhanced technology in which models are designed for greatness, and more importantly, the marketing strategy on which they must target to build and attract more customers to buy their phones in any mobile phone stores or in malls worldwide. Today, another amazing phone was born, and it will be a great competitor to other types of models in its respective brand and other rival companies like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Alcatel and other phone brands, and the one we’re talking about is the all-new Samsung Pixon 12.
Can anybody tell why is it called Samsung Pixon 12? You may wonder why Samsung definitely named this kind of amazing phone. There is one main reason. Samsung Pixon 12 is professionally designed to be the first ever phone, with 12 MP digicam, to be created which no other company had ever done this before. It is going to be a spectacular phone which has an amazing unique feature, which Samsung Pixon 12 guarantees you nothing at all except in which they have the largest file sizes in the industry, which is complemented by decent specs that starts with an FM radio, 3G features, and a 3.1 inch AMOLED touchscreen.
Its internal storage is a huge 150 MB that could store up to a thousand pictures you ever stored, but there’s a disadvantage, which in this stage for a camera-centric phone, it is glaringly weak when it releases to the big market. However, it can be bundled with SD cards that are compatible to this phone, but it is not yet necessary for now. Customers are just relying on the quality of this phone, and that’s what Samsung Pixon 12 really does have good quality, enhanced features and easy to handle. Its shooting speed is much quicker than the average digicam, which clocks at about two seconds per shot. It also has an amazing feature which is the touch autofocus, which allows the user to choose a focal point by pointing your finger in the targeted menu, and the result will be, the camera will now focus on its subject automatically. The superstar feature of this amazing phone is the flash-equipped camera itself. You know why? It is the main feature that with the 12 MP, capturing quality moments is what we’re relying on.
For some years, camera has evolved in the quality of shooting and capturing moments, when it was invented in the late 19th century only thing is that, color is not present in that era, until in the late 70’s or 80’s, it develops color, but sad to say, quality is not yet good, until now, we find ways to enhance good quality of our pictures in order to develop and post it in our photo albums, in which we need digicam for that. Why don’t we say let’s move to a device which you need 100% quality of your camera shots and also improved communication in one place? If we think that this is what we need, then Samsung Pixon 12 is the right one to buy and own.
Local electronics makers are locked in a competition to create the perfect premium smart phone - and it's about to get even fiercer. Italian luxury brand Giorgio Armani teamed up with Samsung Electronics to launch the new GT-V7650 smart phone in Milan Friday.
Three companies [Samsung Electronics, Giorgio Armani, Microsoft] which each represent their respective industry have met to create the ultimate smart phone with an innovative design, cutting-edge technology and the most recent software, said Hong Won-pyo, vice president of Samsung Electronics™ product strategy division.
The rose bronze-colored smart phone, one of the first mobile devices to be powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5, has wireless Internet connectivity and was designed by Giorgio Armani himself. It also includes GPS and camera functions.
This is Samsung's third collaboration with the fashion brand. The first Giorgio Armani-Samsung phone was launched in 2007, followed by the Emporio Armani-Samsung phone called "Night Effect" last year. The three Armani-Samsung handsets have not launched in Korea yet, but Samsung said that they will bring the new edition in the local market this month.
And just in time, since the high-end designer phone trend has been gaining speed here over recent months. Last month, Pantech, Korea's third-largest mobile phone manufacturer after Samsung and LG Electronics, launched a touch screen phone with French luxury pen company Dupont priced in the 800,000 won ($687) range. The IM-U510LE model targets professional men over the age of 30 who subscribe to 2G network service through SK Telecom. The handset includes the original S.T. Dupont logo on its front and is decorated in 18-karat gold. Pantech said that it might consider launching the phone overseas if it is well received in Korea.
Perhaps Samsung's biggest competition in this field is LG's Prada phone. LG Electronics has also been collaborating with luxury Italian fashion house Prada in launching its Prada and Prada 2 phones. This second version launched in Korea in June at a retail price of 1.8 million won.
If you're not willing to shell out $300 for a phone running Windows 6.5, check out the Samsung Intrepid on Sprint. If the Intrepid looks familiar, it's because the Intrepid is the successor to the Samsung Ace, which the Intrepid will replace on Sprint. The Intrepid sports a 2.5-inch touchscreen with a full QWERTY keyboard below it. One of its biggest draws for business customers is its support for international roaming. It also supports stereo Bluetooth, and has Wi-Fi connectivity and a 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording.
The Intrepid is the first Windows phone to support Microsoft's TellMe service for voice dialing and texting, which my colleague Jared Newman found to work quite well. It also comes loaded with Sprint Navigation, Microsoft Office Mobile, and the Smart Read business card scanner. The Intrepid is now available from Sprint for $150 with a two-year contract.
T-Mobile continued its commitment to the Open Handset Alliance and introduced its fourth Google Android device, the Samsung Behold II.
The Behold II is scheduled to launch later this year, though a specific release date and pricing were not announced at this time. It's the first Android smartphone by Samsung to be released in the United States and joins the carrier's other Google devices, which include T-Mobile G1, the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, and the upcoming Motorola Cliq.
Just like HTC and Motorola, Samsung has put its own spin on the Android operating system by using its next-generation TouchWiz interface, which allows you customized three different home screens with various widgets and shortcuts. In addition, the Behold II features a "cube menu" that provides access to six multimedia features: music, photos, videos, the Web, YouTube, and Amazon MP3. You can interact with all of these features through the smartphone's 3.2-inch AMOLED touch screen.
Other highlights of the Samsung Behold II include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, a 5-megapixel camera, and up 16GB expandable memory via the microSD slot. Samsung stated that the smartphone follows on the success of its Samsung Behold and takes it to the next level with the addition of Android, bringing support for Google services and Exchange ActiveSync.
While a specific availability date wasn't released, T-Mobile said the Behold II will arrive in time for the holidays.

The device, called Blue Earth, was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress technology event in Barcelona, and Samsung said it underlined the Korean company’s commitment to environmental stability.
The phone is designed to resemble the shape of a shiny pebble, and uses a small solar panel to provide power.
“This phone demonstrates our small but meaningful commitments for the future and our environment,†said JK Shin, an executive vice president at Samsung.
Blue Earth is made from recycled plastic and features a special “Eco Mode†that users can access with a single click to wring the maximum energy use from the device.
A full solar charge of around 10 to 14 hours will provide enough power for around four hours of talk time. The handset can still be charged normally using a conventional plug, with the solar panels used to top up the battery during use.
It also has a built-in pedometer to help users to measure how much smaller their carbon footprint is when walking rather than driving.
Blue Earth goes on sale in the UK later this year and Samsung did not give any details about price or network partners. However, sources hinted that the handset was likely to be priced at the upper end of the market.
The Samsung Highlight SGH T749 is the latest phone launched by Samsung for T mobile’s 3G network. The phone is available in two colors: fire and ice. While fire is a bright orange in color, ice is a cool turquoise blue. The phone is a bit sturdier than its former cousins and has rounded edges to provide a better grip. The dimensions of the phone are not too bulky and nor is the weight too much, providing the right combination for easy handling.
The touch screen is just about 3 inches which is quite small if we compare it to that of other phones in its category. However, the small size is compensated by the brilliant resolution, sharp images and vibrant colors. The menu is well designed and organized in a manner that is easy to operate and understand. In addition to that the menu is also easy to navigate and not difficult to work with even for first time users. The quality of perception of the touch pad is also quite good. The permanent controls are located at the bottom of the screen and provide shortcuts to very useful applications. There is also a vibrating feedback that lets you know if you press a control key. You can customize the phone in a way that you like by changing the font and adjusting the backlight and brightness. You can also alter the intensity of the vibrating alert to suit your needs.
Messaging becomes a breeze with the two ways that are provided to you by the Samsung Highlight SGH T749. You can either type your messages on the standard alphanumeric keyboard or the virtual keyboard although the latter is the easier option. In addition to that, you can also change over to the QWERTY keyboard if you find that more convenient with the accelerometer. The shortcut to the T9 dictionary and the presence of the major punctuation marks on the primary keyboard are more than welcome features that make message typing a less tedious job. The physical keys are large and are easy to operate as well. The Samsung Highlight SGH T749 has a phonebook that can store up to 2000 contacts with multiple details like postal address, email address, 4 more numbers and notes. In addition to that the SIM card can store up to 250 more contacts, which is quite helpful.
The 3 mega pixel camera takes decent images although it lacks a flash which is a major drawback. The video recorder is also pretty efficient although the number of controls are even less than that in the camera. However, you do have the facility of a ‘smile shot’ where the camera detects and clicks only when the subject is smiling. The music player is also quite good but it has one major hitch. There is no facility of downloading the music that you may want to store in it. However, you may transfer your songs in it through an USB device. The signal strength and call quality have been tested and are reported to be very good if not exceptional. Overall, the phone is not the best you could go for but a great buy if you want a touch phone in a limited budget.
The Samsung Impression SGH A877 is a touch phone designed by Samsung for AT & T. The phone is well designed and is very user friendly and easy to navigate as well. The phone although a bit bulkier than it other touch-cousins offers a great grip. And since the Samsung Impression SGH A877 is a little heavier as well it provides a comfortable and secure feel, not like the other super light flimsy phones that are always on the verge of slipping and falling. The touch screen is the major plus point of this phone. The tactile response is great and is much better a lot of other touch phone that are available in the market. Although the screen is not too big at 3.2 inches, it has adequate space for all the functions. At the bottom of the display are the essential and major shortcuts which prove to be a very convenient feature. You also have the option of adjusting the calibration and intensity of the tactile response according to what suits your needs.
The user interface is very impressive and navigating the menu is a simple task even for first time users. The icons are bold and clear and provide ample space for access even with your fingers. In addition to that you also have the option of conducting a ‘power search’ which enables you to fragment your contacts according to their first letters. Customization is also possible on the Samsung Impression SGH A877 and you can adjust the backlight, font and brightness to what suits your needs. The physical controls are also widely spaced and are easy to use. The phone also has a key on it lateral side which allows you to lock the touch interface which comes in handy whenever you are not using the phone and it is lying in your pocket or bag.
Messaging becomes a breeze with the two ways that are provided to you by the Samsung Impression SGH A877. The 3.0 mega pixel camera is pretty impressive too. The picture clarity is great and it also comes with a 20 fun frames and a self timer. The video quality is also quite pleasing although there were a few minor hitches here and there. The call quality is great both on the caller’s and the recipient’s end and the voice quality on the speaker phone is also great. Overall, the Samsung Impression is great phone with good solid features and a sturdy build.
Samsung have added yet another touchscreen phone to their lineup which is the Samsung Eternity. At the time of writing this, they already have several touchscreens of this style that they produce. At first glance, some of the Samsung Eternity features seem just like their other phones, and it is in the same price range as most of their phones ($149 with a contract, $369 without). Look at the Samsung Behold, the Samsung Omnia, and the Samsung Instinct. Just like Samsung Eternity, they are all full-face touchscreens with the same style of navigation buttons on the bottom, and they all come, by default, in the same shade of black. If you were to lay the 4 phones in order on a table, the novice user would not be able to tell much of a difference between them - much less tell you which phone is which!
So with Samsung already having so many phones of this style, this is going to have to be some special phone for it to stand out above the competition and warrant the sacrifice of your hard-earned money to bring it home with you. The question, then: Does the Samsung Eternity pull though enough to make it a better option than the other smart phones in its class? Well, at the end of the day, the answer usually depends upon your personal needs in a phone - but let’s take a look at some of the specific features that the Samsung Eternity offers to the end user, and see how those options stack up against the other devices on the market.
Let’s start with the bad. The downsides to this phone are similar to the weaknesses that the other Samsung touchscreen models have. First, there is no wifi connectivity. This might be tolerable if the built in 3G support was more reliable, but so far, it has proven to be pretty shaky, making it hard to sustain a reliable connection in many areas. Also, the Samsung Eternity lacks full email support, limiting you to partial messages or using a web-based solution through its web browser. For anyone interested in business-intensive use, this phone is not completely ruled out, but the lack of wifi is an immediate deal breaker for many. These business oriented users will most likely end up rushing straight to the latest model of Blackberry for its integrated enterprise solutions and built-in wireless internet that is easy to use.
The 3 megapixel camera is crisp, clear, and offers pictures that compare to the quality from many expensive standalone digital cameras. In tests, the Samsung Eternity’s built in camera has blown most other phones entirely out of the water. When looking at the picture by itself, the Eternity is one of the few cameras that can produce a picture so clear that it legitimately does not appear to be from a phone. While many cameras offer high resolution photos, most of the time they still produce a noisy, grainy or washed-out image that looks to be either a still from a camcorder or, more obviously, from a camera phone. Not here. The eternity won’t disappoint in this department.
Verizon's much-anticipated Droid smartphone came into the spotlight this week, but it seems this will be only the first in a series of Android-based devices, with the second model -- named the Droid Eris -- expected early next month.
The initial model in this series will be dubbed the "Droid by Motorola", while the Droid Eris will supposedly be made by HTC.
This device was briefly shown off by Verizon and Google at an event early this month (see image at left), revealing that it will be a tablet-shaped model with a strong resemblance to the HTC Hero.
It will allegedly have an 3.2-inch HVGA screen, Wi-Fi, 5-MPx camera, and a GPS receiver, but no hardware keyboard.
This model has the code-name HTC Desire, and it was under that designation that it received FCC approval late last month.
It will run Google's Android OS, but the standard user interface will be replaced with HTC Sense. However, the Google applications will still be included, and users of this smartphone will have access to the 10,000+ apps currently on the Android Market, the on-device software store.
For quite some time HTC is making news with a sort of smart phones. Recently it is going to launch an Android based set with a sleek outlook. The new HTC Dragon may follow the market like the previous HTC Hero in the second quarter next year.
The new HTC Dragon appears to have a large screen with a Hero-like trackball and a camera. Unlike the Acer A1 sets, the new set will be powered by the Snapdragon processor.
The 1GHz Snapdragon processor will make HTC's Sense UI snappier than ever. It is speculated that the HTC Dragon will provide enough resolution of 800x400. The users will also be captivated with its touch screen device. Apart from that, the new phone will be loaded with 2.0 firmware software along with the HTC Sense user interface which is applied for style. So the new set will be a nice set to look for.
The attractive HTC Pure improves significantly on its predecessor, the Touch Diamond, with better specs, a more sophisticated design, and new features supported by Windows Mobile 6.5. The Pure's design is minimalist and sophisticated with only a few hardware buttons and no physical keyboard. A gorgeous 3.2-inch WVGA touchscreen with 800-by-480-pixel resolution dominates the face of the phone.
The HTC Pure runs Windows Mobile 6.5 with HTC's TouchFLO 3D interface overlay. Unfortunately, the phone is lacking in multimedia features while retaining WinMo's trademark sluggishness in certain applications. I was impressed, however, with the Pure's 5-megapixel camera, which snapped great-looking images both indoors and outdoors. At $150 with a two-year contract from AT&T, the HTC Pure is a good deal considering all the features you get. If you're looking for something a little more entertainment-oriented from AT&T, however, you might want to go with the $100 iPhone 3G.
As far as business-oriented handsets go, the HTC Tilt 2 is a solid pick. This eye-catching smartphone has one of the best full-QWERTY keyboards I’ve ever used. Button placement is intuitive, and the phone offers a number of other useful keys, including browser and SMS shortcut keys, a Ctrl key, and page up/down keys. Other hardware perks include a 3.6-inch widescreen WVGA display, dual speakers and microphones for extra noise cancellation, and HTC Straight Talk for conference calling. (When I reviewed the Tilt 2’s unlocked twin brother, the Touch Pro 2, I wasn’t impressed with its 3.2-megapixel camera.)
The Tilt 2 is further enhanced with Windows Mobile 6.5, which is speedier and more touch-friendly than 6.1. It also runs HTC’s custom TouchFLO 3D user interface. I found the Touch Pro 2 with 6.1 sluggish on certain applications, but hopefully 6.5 improves the phone’s performance. The Tilt 2 will be available within the next few weeks from AT&T, and will set you back $300 with a two-year contract.
Verizon Wireless is trying to stamp out its reputation for not having good smartphone by introducing the HTC Imagio, the carrier's first handset to have Windows Mobile 6.5. At $200, the touch-screen handset is a pretty good deal considering its packing some major hardware.
The first thing that will jump out is the ample 3.6-inch display that can give you an 800 by 400 resolution. You'll likely be spending a lot of time staring at that screen if you shell out for Verizon's V Cast mobile TV service, which will offer live TV programming from the likes of CBS, Comedy Central, ESPN, NBC, and others. The service is provided by Flo TV, and there's even an antenna on the back that doubles for a kickstand. Of course this all comes at a price, as users will have to pay $15 a month for the service, which is way too high in my opinion. Mobile TV will never take off in the United States until it can get down in price. I think $5 a month is probably the sweet spot, but the business models don't work for that pricing yet.
Even though it's not a Touch device, the Imagio will come with the TouchFlo 3D user interface to make it a bit more finger-friendly. I've found this to be a very elegant way to mask Windows Mobile's clunky, desktop-like user experience, but there are still some weird elements to it. The TouchFlo is very pretty, but sometimes it can slow down. Even worse, it's almost too pretty - when you have to jump from TouchFlo to Windows Mobile the difference can be jarring. I guess that's more of a complaint for Microsoft really.
Beyond those features, the handset will have all the features you expect from a high-end smartphone like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, assisted-GPS, a 5-megapixel camera, microSD slot, a standard headphone jack, and a decent 528-MHz Qualcomm processor. The handset will start going on sale on Verizon's Web site Oct. 6.
HTC have recently announced another Android handset the handset is the HTC Tattoo (aka HTC Click). Many believe this ultra-affordable handset will put real pressure on manufacturers such as Motorola who are beginning to release Android handsets.
For an ultra-affordable handset the specifications are still quite impressive, it has a 528Mhz processor, 512MB RAM and 256MB so its doubtful that the Android OS will be sluggish.
Other hardware includes a 2.8 inch touchscreen display, a 3.2 megapixel camera, a 3.5mm headphone hack, a microSD memory card slot and WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, check out this link for more information.
Pricing and availability for the handset is still not completely confirmed, however many believe that we should see the handset sometime in October, perhaps for free on some contracts, for more details check out BoyGeniusReport’s article which also includes some official press photos
HTC Touch Pro2 is considered the most highly anticipated Windows Mobile device of all time. The unique feature of a tilting screen that is seen in HTC TyTN II and the other variations; is brought back again with the introduction of other new technologies that will put many business professionals at awe. Read on to find out more about the super cool HTC Touch Pro2.
The HTC Touch Pro2 is larger and heavier than the last model from HTC but it sports a bigger touch screen that stands at a better tilt or angle. It is definitely a really big and bulky phone that you will not be able to carry by clipping it onto your belt. The interface of this phone is extremely impressive and it carries a new additional feature of a conference call speaker named as the “Straight Talkâ€.
Physically, you will notice that it is a stunning phone that exudes an appearance and feels that scream high-end. The touch screen with WVGA resolution makes for a really fine and clear picture. The device is a statement that says mobile device engineering has gone a long way especially with the return of the tilting screen. Included in the box that carries this device, you will find a USB cable, a wall charger, an extra stylus, a leather case (to big to be placed on your belt), a screen protector, software instruction, and the battery.
When you are typing, the tilting screen offers an optimum viewing angle. You can watch a movie easily without having to hold it and it is most practical when you are using the GPS navigation in your car. The Touch Pro2’s QWERTY keyboard is almost similar to what you get on a regular computer keyboard; with touch operation is possible without the use of a D-pad.
The call quality of this phone is really good as the voice on the other line comes out clear and crisp. You can also increase the level of volume. The interface of the phone is laid out perfectly making it easy for you to call the number you last dialed by tapping in the first few digits. Since this phone is designed with a conference call facility in mind, the interface has options for multi-callers set up which requires you to create your network first. By putting the phone face down as after you set up a call, you will get to use the loud, noise-cancelling Straight Talk speaker that turns on when the button glows green in color.
The camera of this phone is unfortunately a relatively basic one, which sports 3.2 megapixels that has not flash and no other unique features. In this respect, the HTC Touch falls behind many of its other competitors. In good lighting, you will get images that are good enough but the edges can be a little blurry with poorly rendered color. It gets worse for snapping pictures under a lesser light condition.
The HTC Magic is powered by the Google Android 1.5 operating system, and as such has full access to the burgeoning Android Market, Google's version of the iTunes Store. The Market is loaded with applications ranging from games through to Twitter clients and although it doesn't match the Apple version for slickness, there's no denying the quantity. Either way, at this moment in time, it's the only contender ably positioned to challenge the iTunes Store, and to our mind that gives this phone a leg up on the competition at the outset. Time will tell, of course, but for now let's see if the handset itself shapes up.
Available in black or white, the Magic though not quite at the luxurious level of the iPhone or even some recent Nokia handsets is a good-looking device. It has a shiny plastic shell, six shortcut buttons and a little trackball-style Pearl for navigating when you don't feel like using the touchscreen. A side-mounted rocker style button provides instant access to volume controls. The entire back panel slides easily off to allow access to the battery, SIM card and Micro SD card slots and the lens for the 3.2 megapixel camera resides here too.
Say goodbye to the physical keyboard of its predecessor and hello to an iPhone (there's that word again, sorry HTC)-style QWERTY touchscreen keyboard that pops up when required. I'm a reformed keypad user so, to me, tapping away on a touchscreen feels perfectly natural, though I understand it isn't for everyone. As far as touchscreen typing goes, however, HTC has done an excellent job. It's fast, responsive and uses predictive text, and even though you won't be tapping out your thesis on it, you will find it more than adequate for all your mobile computing needs.
The touchscreen itself is very good. Is it as good as the one on the iPhone? Not quite, navigation isn't as fluid when dragging your fingers around. For hunt and peck style operation it is, however, perfect. It looks great too, with the screen both crisp and bright although the default setting is on the low side, so forget your battery life and bump that slide right up.
Speaking of battery life, HTC says the Magic will give you up to 450 minutes of talk time using GSM and up to 420 hours of standby time. In real life we found a day of regular usage (texting, checking email, playing a few games, watching a few YouTube clips and listening to music) would sufficiently drain the battery to require a recharge at the end of each day. So, about the same as the iPhone.
The internal speaker is surprisingly good, while the bundled stereo headphones and headset (there's a volume control and simple remote control halfway down the wire) are average at best. Sadly, HTC has opted to make the mini-USB jack (also used to connect to a PC or charger) the only means of connecting your headphones. There's no 3.5mm jack so you can't chuck on your favourite pair of headphones. Even Apple realised this was a bad idea and gave us all a standard 3.5mm jack on their phone.
Moving onto slightly more technical matters, the Magic features a global roaming-friendly selection of radio transmitters and receivers including quad-band GSM, dual-band UMTS and HSDPA/HSUPA. Bottom line for Kiwis? At home it'll work with the entire Vodafone network, both 3G and Extended 3G, while overseas roaming should prove a doddle. Well, until you get the bill if you dared make a call or two while away, then you'll regret ever taking your phone at all.
The Magic is wi-fi enabled but it's 802.11 b/g only, there's no n. The now obligatory (and increasingly useful thanks to the addition of third party apps via the Android Market) GPS receiver is present, as is Bluetooth (it'll accept a stereo headset) and a digital compass. An accelerometer detects movement and, among a host of other useful applications, will automatically rotate the screen should you turn the phone on its side. Storage is handled by a Micro SD slot and it'll take a card up to 8GB capacity.
The media player is decent, though not a patch on the media functionality of the iPhone and its tight iPod integration. It will, however, play a whole stack of different audio formats including AAC, MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG and AAC+. Video formats are limited to MP4 and 3GP.
With a Google-made operating system the HTC Magic is, unsurprisingly, at one with all that is Google, be it Gmail, Calendar, Contacts and of course Google Maps (it's street view-enabled and when used in conjunction with the accelerometer to look around, is very cool indeed). The video camera can upload clips directly to YouTube perfect for on-the-spot news reporting. Still photos taken with the 3.2 megapixel camera were decent and about on par with most camera phones out there.
All-in-all HTC has produced a competent and desirable handset. The Android operating system is excellent and the Android Market looks very promising. The Magic can't quite match the iPhone in terms of form, function or sheer, unadulterated sex appeal, but it gets pretty close on most counts and manages to do some things better running apps in the background, for instance, along with tight integration with Google services. Pricing looks to be on a par with the iPhone too. Subsidised handsets start at $319 on one of Vodafone's new Smartphone Plans, or buying the phone outright will set you back $1,099.
So recently I heard that T-Mobile has announced their first 3G-enabled WinMo smartphone, which is the T-Mobile Dash 3G that will be available for purchase on July 2009. The phone will have a nice casing with a glossy-black finish with a slight touch of red accents. Seems pretty cool for me Anyway, the T-Mobile Dash 3G which is also known as the HTC Snap used the 6.1 version of WinMo OS and a nice QWERTY keypad to ease users in typing emails etc. The phone also features a built in WiFi, GPS and trackball for navigation.
The T-Mobile Dash 3G (HTC Snap) is pretty fast too. Inside the phone there’s a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM 7225 CPU, 256MB ROM, 192MB RAM, Bluetooth and a 2.4-inch display screen (320 x 240 pixels). There’s also a 2 megapixel camera for standard shooting. A microSDHC card slot is available for more storage space.
The HTC phones are known for their comfortable easy-to-use features they offer to the mobile users. There are so many features added in these HTC phones which distinguish them from the other classic phones. The browser experience is very well enhanced in HTC mobiles. The interface is user friendly and it makes the HTC mobiles intuitive. HTC Touch Cruise is one of the classic models with attracting features. The mobile has the HTC footprints by which every moment of life can be recorded and captured. It is one of the smart phones introduced recently. The HTC Touch Cruise has a special navigation software that has come along with a car kit. This enables you to get even more out of the phone when you are traveling. You can simply put the mobile in the car kit and this will change the mode to navipanel mode. It will never let you get lost when you travel alone. The touch cruise mobile is a perfect choice for all mobile lovers especially for travelers. Though the Touch Cruise mobile is not powered by the android operating system like the HTC hero still it has many of the common features of the HTC hero. Competition in the smart phone market is on the increase recently as one new smart phone after other hits the market. Various companies are introducing mobiles with excellent features that captivate the mobile users. The mobile phones are becoming smaller in size though the features keep increasing. The T mobile is known for releasing such smart pones every year with improved technologies and enhancements.
A recent smart phone launched by the T mobile is ˜my touch 3G™.It uses the high speed data network. It is the second hand set of T mobile to feature Google powered android operating system. The ˜my touch 3G™ hand set is offered in vibrant colors including black, white and distinctive merlot. The mobile looks more admirable in its merlot color. Though this hand set is similar to the T mobile™s G1, there are certain features that differentiate it. The ˜my touch 3G™ mobile offers a deep level of customization. The users can personalize and customize the menus, wall papers, icons and a range of other things with the help of the themes and skins. This makes it unique from the iphone because it has a un customizable look.
Another key point to be noted about the ˜my touch mobile™ is something called Sherpa. Sherpa is nothing but an application that claims to learn from the actions of the user. For instance, if the user is searching on a topic; the Sherpa recognizes your intention and provides more information related to it which you may need in future. Does it sound be unreal? The reality is this; the application has a built in learning engine which has the ability to customize itself based on the user™s preference. This application is created by geodilic and it learns the likes and dislikes of the users through feedbacks and behavior.
The ˜my touch mobile™ uses a virtual keyboard which is a replacement to the physical keyboard used by a G1 mobile. This makes it much smaller and compact than the G1 mobile. The android cup cake software used by the ˜my touch mobile™ gives a unique beautiful look. The memory is also increased when compared to the G1 Mobile. This enables the applications to load and run very smoothly.
Specifications of the ˜my touch mobile™:
o A 3.2 inch TFT LCD screen
o 528 MHZ processor
o network: GSM quad band phone capable of global roaming
o Battery : LI “ION 1340MaH
o Internet ; full HTML browser
o Operating system : Android
o Touch screen: 3.2 inches
o Resolution: 320*480 pixels
o WiFi, GPS connectivity
o 3.2 mega pixel camera with automatic uploads
o Bundles 4GB micro SD card
o Internal memory : 512 MB
The key feature of the iphone namely multi touch is not supported by the ˜my touch mobile™. The battery life of this mobile is more than the G1 mobile and the iphone. The ˜my touch mobile™ is also comparatively cheaper than the iphone with the price ranging from $199.
The ˜my touch mobile™ performs very well even if some other applications are running in the background. The touch screen is made by HTC. The mobile users are able to personalize menus, wall papers and even the icons. The android operating system helps to improve the performance. The ˜my touch mobile™ is stylish in appearance. The only advantage it offers compared to the other recent phones specifically is that it is smaller in size compared to all recent models. The T mobile android battery is also improvised. Thanks to its dazzling, responsive interface that almost completely hides Windows Mobile 6.1 from view (the worst parts of it, anyway), the HTC Touch Diamond 2 has sprung to the top of the pack as our favorite Windows Mobile touchscreen phone on the market. The phone isn't just superfast, it's also packed with intelligent new features, like the great calling features that aggregate useful information to make business conversations more informed. There is still room for improvement. Multimedia was a mess, a real shame on a phone with a hi-res screen like this one. Also, some apps we might expect from a U.S. carrier phone, like turn-by-turn navigation and a proper IM client, were missing on this unlocked, import version. Still, we had fun with the camera features, found Opera Mobile to be a capable, speedy browser, even over the slower network connection (here in the States, at least), and overall enjoyed our time with the HTC Touch Diamond 2. Release: April 2009. Price: $575.
Pros: Fast, responsive interface and hi-res touchscreen. Great calling features put useful info at fingertips. Solid camera and Web browsing features.
Cons: Multimedia functions were buggy, underpowered. Onscreen keyboard a bit small, though smart. Lacks some apps a U.S. carrier would include.
What the HTC Snap lacks in flair, it makes up for in sheer, unadulterated function -- and having an utterly awesome keyboard certainly helps in that regard. It's easy to pass off HTC's latest portrait QWERTY handset as a bit frumpy from photographs, but trust us when we say that it's totally passable in person (some might even call it insanely attractive) -- think of it as the anti-8900, if you will. Pictured on the Snap above is the configuration screen for Inner Circle, which HTC also introduced this week. There's really not much to it -- you can add email addresses from your address book or from incoming emails, and when Inner Circle is enabled, only emails from those contacts will be visible in the Snap's unified account-agnostic inbox. It's a great idea for shutting out the electronic noise most of us experience in our day-to-day lives, and we're hoping this little feature finds its way to HTC's full WinMo lineup going forward. Follow the break for a video tour of the phone (and pay close attention, Yanks, 'cause it'll be coming your way as the S522 in the next few months).
Let me start off by saying I am not a big fan of smartphones and the Windows Mobile operating system was never my first choice. Given this, naturally I struggled with the HTC Touch HD in the initial stages. However, it did pleasantly surprise me in many ways. Before we get into that, let's get a feel for the unit.
Aesthetics matters
The phone itself looks great. The screen is fantastically big, the largest I have ever come across on any touch-screen device. It has four buttons at the bottom of the screen which are also touch sensitive, so in effect the touch interface extends even beyond the 3.8in screen.
It is quite a large unit length and breadthwise, although its not the thickest phone I have ever held so it does have a sleek feel to it. The back cover is made of hard plastic and rubber, making it as sturdy as possible without adding too much weight. Also, the camera lens is protected by a thick metal sheet that surrounds it.
There are only two real buttons on the phone. I did think the on/standby button on the top could have been a little bigger and more prominent. The same goes for the volume button on the side.
Functionality
First of all, the processor for this model is supposed to be just as fast if not faster than the HTC Touch Pro.
Somehow, when comparing the response time with the Touch Pro, the Touch HD lags slightly behind. Honestly, I did expect the processing speed to be faster.
This model has a resistive touch-screen which seems to work much better with a stylus pen. True enough, this phone was designed to be used mostly via stylus pen, which can be annoying. For someone like me who is impatient and likes to do things quickly, having to whip out the tiny stylus is an inconvenience I could do without. Using your fingers is not as smooth as I would want it to be. I pushed many wrong icons and find it tedious to navigate this way. Some of my friends actually find it pretty straightforward and blame me for having long yet pudgy fingers. The model gives you a little vibration every time you push a button or make a certain choice. I thought this was very innovative and smart as it actually lets you know when you have pushed something.
Amazing graphics
Once you get used to the stylus you can appreciate what this smartphone does extremely well €” the quality of the images displayed is spectacular. Whether I am checking the weather or my non-existent stocks, it is just so easy on the eyes. The 5-megapixel camera delivers crisp pictures complimented by the resolution. However, what is curious about this model is that it has no flash for the camera! This was highly unusual considering this model's price tag. Surfing the Net was also quite interesting, the wide screen helps a lot but the zoom functions were difficult to use. I learnt that this model can only go to landscape mode whilst surfing the Internet and browsing pictures. I do not mind this too much since I am not a big fan of landscape mode generally.
Text and more
I can't say I am too pleased with the way the SMS interface was designed. When you receive an SMS, there's naught but a small green bubble at the bottom of the screen to notify you in case you did not hear the alert. Also, there are two different menus here. One is the €œTouch and flip to next message€ and the other is the €œConversations€ menu. There are shortcuts but they are not easily learnt. I felt this was just unnecessarily complicated for something that is essential to everyday life. As I said, I am not a smartphone enthusiast, but I must say that I enjoyed sending and receiving e-mail messages on this phone. For this function, the stylus comes in handy and it was fun while it lasted. After uploading some music onto the Touch HD, I could not get enough of the speakers.
They are amazingly loud and the bass is pretty impressive. The alarm gets me out of bed every morning (an achievement, let me assure you) and I do not need to share an earpiece to let my friends enjoy high quality music.
Conclusion
I think this phone will be great for people who are fans of Windows Mobile and the resistive touch technology. I can't say that I will be running to the store to get it but it does have its charm. Those looking for a practical smartphone may want a real Qwerty keypad as opposed to a virtual one which takes longer to get used to.
However, if you like a phone with a big screen, awesome resolution and great speakers, this one is for you. I do think the price tag is a little hefty even for a smartphone but it does come with enhanced features, making it a class above the others.
Pros: Excellent speakers; good camera; amazing widescreen display.
Cons: Slight lag; no flash; SMS menu disappointing.

LG Arena is one of the better smart phones, equipped with the latest features, released this year. LG has always produced some great mobiles in the past and is continuing the race for the best touch screen mobile by releasing this mobile. LG Arena, clearly one of the better mobiles from LG, is jam packed with features and is designed to perfection. Going by the look and the feel of the mobile, it has a large touch screen display offering a resolution of 480x800 pixels. The glossiness and the rich display of this mobile is what can please your eyes a lot. The screen is highly responsive and full of vibrant colors. The size of this mobile is 106 x 55 x 12 mm and it weighs around 105 grams only.

The battery of LG Arena is quite good as compared to other smart phones in different categories across the globe. LG Arena offers a talk time of 230 minutes and a standby time of about 300 hours. Yes, improvement could have been made in this area but if the mobile gives you tons of features, you don’t expect it to run for weeks. LG have announced the LG Chocolate BL20, which is the latest addition to the LG Chocolate Family. It follows the hugely hyped and successful launch of the LG Chocolate BL40 at the start of September. The LG Chocolate BL40 featured heavily at the recent London fashion week and benefited from a collaboration backed by Sienna Miller, as well as receiving a glowing review from 3G.co.uk.
The LG Chocolate BL20 is a mini-version of the LG Chocolate and it will no doubt follow in its predecessor’s success. The LG Chocolate BL20 still has the same trademark Chocolate appearance with the glossy black surface with red “glowing” highlights, but it also has a sliding keypad with red navigation keys. In combination with the new slim-line look, the sliding keypad makes the LG a really sleek compact device that will grace any handbag or pocket.
It features a 5 mega pixel camera which has auto-focus technology to ensure your photos always appear perfect. The new Chocolate BL20 also has touch-sensitive controls which are concealed on the side of the mobile. They enable easy adjustment of functions such as volume, camera zoom and much more. The BL20 also has “Widget hotkeys”, which enables users to personalize their mobile with their favourite widgets, such as the weather or sports news. One new feature is the “Clear Memo Capture” which captures text, handwritten notes and drawing with maximum clarity. The LG Chocolate will be available in the UK sometime in the 4th Quarter of this year.
The announcement of LG's first Android-powered smartphones comes only a week after the world's third largest mobile phone company announced that it would be introducing three new Windows Mobile smartphones in the next few weeks. These developments underscore LG's commitment to offering greater consumer choice in the expanding smartphone category.
The new LG-GW620 features a 3-inch full touchscreen and slide out QWERTY keypad to meet the growing needs of consumers who rely on their mobile phones for more than just making calls. The LG-GW620 benefits from an operating system that was created from the ground up to take advantage of the many mobile applications and services developed by search leader Google.
In anticipation of strong demand for smartphones that support social networking functions right out-of-the-box, the LG-GW620 also lives up to LG's consumer-friendly design philosophy by making the smartphone experience more accessible for typical users. At the same time, LG's messaging phones have traditionally been very popular with young professionals who demand a full QWERTY keypad for a fast mobile computing experience. The LG-GW620 manages to meet the needs of both types of users simultaneously.
The LG-GW620 will appeal to first-time smartphone customers by offering a new and different kind of user experience, said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. œOur objective is to provide a wide selection of smartphones to satisfy the diverse preferences of today's consumers. This Android phone is just one of many smartphone models we plan to introduce worldwide in the years ahead.
